Hi Sean, I would like to introduce myself - I’m Hannah, I’m a queer, Chinese adopted daughter of a Texas Evangelical Right Wing Pastor, I am also a social worker in New York City. I was raised on these books like they are my bread and butter. While I agree largely with your analysis of these books, I would love to discuss with you the nuances that I believe C.S. Lewis wrote into the Calormen Character of Aravis- my favorite Narnia Heroine by far. - She was the first time a small Asian girl in the middle of evangelical Texas Christiandom saw myself in a character. Having had limited opportunity to read Percy Jackson, the Golden Compass, and Harry Potter, Aravis is a character I clung to. I would very much like to engage with you on an intellectual basis on why I believe she is a redeemable quality of the books as a whole. While flawed, these books were the introduction I needed to literature. They made me want to read, and through reading, I found other books that I eventually moved out of the evangelical space to where I am now. So while the books have their flaws, their impact on my life is certainly large and it distresses me that others might not find the same pathway through these books to others. 1
